Labradorite is a mineral from the feldspar group. The iridescent (changing) play of colors with a metallic sheen is striking in labradorite. This so-called labradorescence, is created by interference and reflection on submicroscopic lamellae. This shine is mainly blue, purple and green, sometimes other colors are also found. In rare cases, the shine includes the entire color spectrum, such a decorative stone is then called spectrolite.
