Azurite – a mineral with a distinctive blue color
Azurite is an alkaline copper carbonate (Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂), known for its deep azure blue color. It is often found together with malachite, with which it forms attractive combinations of green and blue shades.
Silver pendants with azurite
Each pendant with azurite is unique – the color and pattern of the stone are never repeated. Azurite is set in Ag925 silver. Minerals-stones is registered with the Assay Office.
Azurite deposits
Azurite is mined in many parts of the world, especially in Namibia, Morocco, Mexico and the USA. Some of the highest quality stones come from the Chessy area in France, which also gave rise to the name “Chessylite”.
History and uses of azurite
Azurite was known in ancient times, when it was used as a pigment for producing blue paint. Today it is sought after mainly in jewelry and among mineral collectors.
