Description

Amethrin - also known as bolivianite - is a natural gemstone made up of a combination of amethyst and citrine. The vast majority of ametrins come from Bolivia, but are also found in smaller quantities in Brazil and India. The color of the crystalline quartz depends on the crystallization temperature and is due to the different degrees of oxidation of the iron.

The unique gemstone begins to grow as either citrine or amethyst, and a change in the physical and chemical conditions of the environment simply disrupts the peaceful development of the crystal and turns it into its closest relative. The fascinating combination of different shades of purple, which changes from yellow to yellow-orange or vice versa, is incredibly rare - most of the production of amethrin is from Bolivia.
