A crystal ball, also known as an orbuculum or crystal ball, is a crystal or glass ball and a common object of divination. It is generally associated with the practice of clairvoyance and especially with divination.
The Druids were one of the first to know that they used crystals for divination. Later in the Middle Ages (500 - 1500 AD), magicians, sorcerers, spiritualists and all other types of seers used crystals to look into the past, present or future.
Dr. John Dee was a well-known British mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, geographer and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I. He devoted most of his life to alchemy, divination and hermetic philosophy, which often included the use of crystal balls.
