Description
Petalite is a mineral from the group of layered silicates (phyllosilicates), chemically LiAlSi4O10. It was discovered by the Brazilian scientist J.B.A.e Silva at the end of the 18th century. Its name is derived from the Greek word for leaf -petalon. It is usually clear, white, pink, gray or white with different shades. Its colorless variety is used in jewelry. One of the most important sites is Minas Gerais in Brazil, and it can be found in Western Australia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Canada.
