Tugtupite is a very rare mineral, with a hardness of 4 Tugtupite-Na8(Cl2)(BeAlSi4O12)2. It forms massive aggregates. Luminescence under UV light pink. Tugtupite is used as a gemstone. Only two localities are known - Greenland-Tugtup and Russia-Kola, where tugtupit occurs in an unsightly form with imperfect color. The mineral is named after the Tugtup locality in Greenland.
When exposed to sunlight or the heat of human hands, it changes color from light red to dark red.
Rarity and origin
Tugtupit is a mineral from the cubic sodalite group, chemically Na₄AlBeSi₄O₁₂Cl, which occurs only in pegmatite bodies of a very specific geological composition. Its formation is possible only under exceptional conditions - which is why it is more valuable as a collector than most pink and
Fluorescence - a stone that glows
One of the most impressive features of tugtupite is its strong fluorescence.
Under UV light, it glows an intense neon pink to red.
In some samples, a color change can be observed even with prolonged exposure to light - as if the stone "comes to life".
This phenomenon is called tenebraescence - a color change under the influence of energy, which can be temporary or gradual.
Inuit legend
According to Eskimo (Inuit) tradition, tugtupite is "the stone of love and the blood of the land".
Legend says that the spirit of the reindeer (tuktu) shed its blood on the rock to dedicate a person to a connection with the heart of the landscape.

What makes tugtupit unique as a collector
Rarity: there are really few pieces in the world in quality suitable for jewelry.
Color duality: different tones of pink and red in one mineral.
Fluorescence: under UV it “burns” with a vivid color.
Story: connection with the traditional culture of the Greenland Inuit.
It is a stone that does not look like an ordinary mineral – it looks alive.
