Clinoatacamite is a very rare mineral, copper chloride.

The color ranges from green to dark green or blue-green.
Clinoatacamite is easily confused with the closely related atacamite, paratacamite and anatacamite (they are polymorphs - the same chemical formula, but different crystalline properties).
Clinoatacamite - a rare copper mineral
Clinoatacamite is a basic copper chloride with the chemical formula Cu₂Cl(OH)₃. It belongs to the atacamite group and is known for its typical deep green color. It rarely occurs in the form of well-developed crystals, more often in aggregates.
Appearance and properties of clinoatacamite
Clinoatacamite has a glassy to pitchy luster and a hardness of around 3.5 on the Mohs scale. Rare crystals are translucent with an intense color, which makes the mineral sought after by collectors.
Clinoatacamit deposits
Clinoatacamit occurs mainly in copper deposits. Significant locations are in Chile, Peru, Australia and Crimea. Aesthetic crystals come mainly from Chilean deposits.
History and use of clinoatacamit
The mineral was described at the end of the 20th century as a separate species. Today it is valued mainly by collectors, its industrial importance is limited.
