Tourmaline is a wonderful mineral that is attractive to us especially in its color. Its name comes from Sri Lanka from the Sinhalese tribe, who call it tura-malí-. It means a stone that is polluted with ash particles. According to another interpretation, this means a stone with mixed colors or mixed gems.

Tourmalines are classified as cyclic silicates. More precisely, they are borosilicates of aluminum and other elements. They crystallize in the vault system. They are typical minerals of granite and pegmatite rocks. They can occur less often in metamorphic rocks, alpine or hydrothermal veins. They occur secondarily in sediments.
