Astrophyllite is a rare mineral that is valued for its beautiful appearance and unique structure. Its name comes from the Greek words "astron" (star) and "phyllon" (leaf), referring to its star-like or leaf-like appearance.
Astrophyllite is a silicate containing potassium, iron, manganese, titanium and sodium. Its chemical composition is K2(Fe,Mn)7Ti2Si8O24(O,OH)7. Astrophyllite is found in various places around the world, but some of the most prominent localities are in Russia, specifically in the Kola region of the Kola Peninsula. Other significant deposits include Norway and Canada.
