The formation of peridot is the result of the crystallization of a mixture of molten rocks and gases (magma), which contain very little silicon. Peridot is a rhombic mineral with an unstable proportion of iron and magnesium depending on the conditions under which this precious stone was formed. Trace elements of chromium and nickel should also not be missing in the crystal lattice of peridot. Deep in the earth's mantle is a yellow-green gemstone that has been confused with emerald.
