Description

Composition: Pargasite is composed of a number of elements, including magnesium, iron, silicon, aluminum and hydrogen. Its chemical formula can be generally expressed as (Na,Ca)2-3(Mg,Fe2+)4Al(Al,Si)2Si6O22(OH)2.

Appearance: Pargasite crystals can be dark in color, usually green to black, and have a characteristic luster.

Occurrence in Marble: Pargasite is often found in metamorphic rocks such as marble. There are some known areas of pargasite-bearing marble in Vietnam, and some of these areas are known for their significant marble reserves.

Geological Significance: Pargasite marble has aesthetic value due to the contrast between the dark pargasite crystals and the light marble base. This type of marble is often used in construction and jewelry.
