Topaz blue 3,75 ct, Sri Lanka

Topaz is a rhombic mineral. They form perfectly bounded crystals and their drusen. Crystals are very rich in shapes and tend to be more or less columnar, vertically grooved.

Topaz was named after the legendary island of Topazios, which lies off the coast of Egypt, or the Sanskrit word 'tapas', which means heat or fire. Topaz stands out for its exceptionally wide color range, which, in addition to classic brown, includes variously saturated shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink and purple.
